Cleaning Solution Ingredients: Water, Ethanol, Propylene Glycol
Store in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children. Use within 24 months of opening.
For rinsing the print head of your edible printer or use with refillable edible ink cartridges to run cleaning cycles.
For Direct Cleaning of the Print Head - carefully remove the print head from your edible printer and flush with edible cleaning fluid, using a syringe, until no further ink comes away from print head. For a more thorough clean if blockages occur, you may need to also rinse under hot water. Alternatively, pour cleaning fluid into a container and submerge print head for no longer than 1 hour. Remove and rise thoroughly under hot water until water runs clear.
For use with refillable cartridges -
- Sterilise needle in boiling water before fitting to top of syringe. Open all cartridges and remove yellow pull tab from the top of each cartridge.
- Fill syringe with Edible Printer Cleaning Solution.
- Remove coloured plug from first cartridge and syringe in cleaning solution, be sure to tip the cartridge towards the sponge side while filling to ensure the sponge is saturated and the cavity side is at least 3/4 full. Once full, replace coloured plug and repeat for each cartridge.
- Open your edible printer lid, wait for carriage to move into place and remove your normal edible ink cartridges from edible printer, be sure to place back into their original orange holders to avoid ink spills.
- Insert each cleaning cartridge into the corresponding coloured slot and press gently until you hear a click. All cartridges must be in place before performing a cleaning cycle.
- Close the lid and within the printer settings maintenance tab select ‘cleaning.’ This can be accessed via the printer driver settings, the printer display (TS705a & TS6350) or by holding the resume button (iX6850). This will perform a clean of the print head. (You may also wish to perform ‘deep cleaning’ for a more thorough clean, but only if a general clean does not improve print quality.)
- With normal A4 paper loaded into the printer (not edible sheets), print an A4 image - it’s best to print something with a variety of colours to ensure the cleaning fluid from each cartridge runs through the printer. There should be minimal/no ink on the paper once this has printed.
- Remove cleaning cartridges as above and replace with normal edible ink cartridges (if storing your printer for a while you can leave your cleaning cartridges in place until you need to use it again.) Put your cleaning cartridges back into their orange holders and store in a sealed bag until needed again.
- Print a nozzle check pattern. If everything looks ok your printer is now ready to use again. If ink is not flowing (missing colours on nozzle patter) then perform If not, repeat another cleaning cycle and print. If issues still persist, ‘deep cleaning’ or a manual clean of the print head may be required.
For General Edible Printer Cleaning - use to wipe down edible printer or clean edible ink spillages in and around the edible printer with a lint-free cloth. Please ensure your printer is switched off and unplugged before carrying out cleaning.
For Cleaning Edible Ink Cartridges - wipe down edible ink spillages on cartridges using the cleaning fluid on a clean lint-free cloth. Ensure you wipe the green chips on the bottom of the cartridges to ensure they are recognised by your edible printer and prolong the life of the cartridges.
For Roller or Bottom Plate Cleaning - use the edible cleaning solution to dampen a piece of corrugated card. Carefully insert between the rollers and gently push and pull to remove excess ink from the rollers.
Please note - the edible cleaning solution and maintenance kits are for printer cleaning and print head maintenance only - for clogged print heads or more thorough cleaning after subsequent use, we still recommend removing the print head and running under hot water to manually clean.
